This wheel thrown, hand-painted hummingbird plate was a first for me. It is the first, and only time I have ever made a plate. It was also the first, and only time I have used an airbrush for applying the underglaze on the background. It has been finished with a food grade wax, and while it could be used for dry crudities, it will likely be used for decorative purposes only.
It found a home almost immediately. I think it was a successful experiment, and, I will definitely create more illustrated plates in the future.
